Reading from the Gospel, Sunday April 5 (click here)
Liturgical Day: Sunday April 5
Gospel (Jn 20, 1-9): The first day is Mary of Magdala came to the tomb when it was still dark, and sees the stone taken away from the sepulcher. Runs away and goes to Simon Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord and we know not where they have laid him."
So Peter and the other disciple, and went toward the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent down and saw the burial cloths; but did not enter. Also comes Simon Peter following him, enters the tomb and sees the linen cloths lying, and the cloth that covered his head, not lying with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself. Then went in also that other disciple, who had reached the tomb first; saw and believed, as yet they had not understood the scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
