Liturgical Day: Tuesday February 10
Gospel (Mk 7, 1-13): At that time, gathered together unto him the Pharisees and some scribes who came from Jerusalem. And they saw that some of his disciples ate with hands defiled, that is, unwashed, -that the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat with unwashed hands up to the elbow, holding the tradition of the ancients, and the back of the market, except they bathe, do not eat; and there are many other things which traditionally seen as the washing of cups, pitchers and trays-.
Therefore, the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why do your disciples not respect the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?". He said, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: 'This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. In vain do they worship me, teaching doctrines the precepts of men. 'Laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men. "He said to them: "How well reject the commandment of God, keep your tradition! For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother and he who curses his father or mother, let him die the death'. But you say, 'If one tells his father or his mother, What could get me to help him declare "Korban" -ie: ofrenda-' you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother, thus nullifying the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down and you do many things like these. "
