    Gospel (Mk 1, 7-11): At that time John preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I; and I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the thong of his sandals. I have baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. "And it came to pass in those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. As out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending to him and a voice came from heaven was heard. "You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
