Gospel Reading Today, Oct. 18

Liturgical Day: Saturday October 18
Gospel (Lk 10: 1-9): At that time the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he himself would come. And he said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. id; behold I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes. And do not greet anyone on the road.

"In the house you enter, first say, 'Peace to this house.' If there be there a man of peace, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. In the city you enter and they receive you, eat what is set before you; heal the sick that are therein, and say: 'The kingdom of God is near you.' "
